Wedding Wednesday- Tips from the pros

The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself.
This weeks Wedding Wednesday post is dedicated to advice from the pros. Planning a wedding can be a daunting task. Why not gain the inside perspective from the professionals who's job it is to not only tackle that daunting task....But exceed everyone's expectations while doing so?

Here is a list of do's and don'ts that can get you well on your way to exceeding your own expectations.

DO: HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER! whether it's someone there from day one or simply the day of, you need someone who's sole responsibility it is to execute your vision. Guest what? that person should not be you. Your job that day should be to look gorgeous and enjoy every minute. That can't happen if you're worried that your cousin brought a guest you didn't know about and your friend decided she's a vegetarian that day.

DON'T: Hire your sister's best friends aunt who is really organized as your wedding planner. You wouldn't go to a lawyer for dental work or a dentist when you need legal advice. Having a bad planner can cause even more havoc then not having one at all because they can lead you in the wrong direction and add additional stress. This is one of the most important days of your life, do your research and hire a professional.

DO: Know your budget before you start planning. Think of it as getting pre-approved for a loan. When you know the amount you have to work with you know what size and location of home to search for, right? Well, weddings can be a large investment (in some cases as much as a house). Knowing that number before you start planning can save you a lot of time looking at locations that are out of your reach.

DON'T: Try to fit a square peg in a round hole. Once you have this number, be realistic. Make sure you understand what items are okay to sacrifice and what items are not. Inviting 300 people but only being able to offer them water might not be a great compromise.

DO: Hire a photographer based on style and quality, not on the amount of pictures you get. Guess what, if your pictures are horrible it won't matter that your "package" includes 4 albums and 5 16x20's because you won't want to look at any of them. These are images you will want to share with future generations (if you're lucky). Make sure you hire a great professional who's work takes your breath away and get the correct amount of hours of coverage. If your budget is lower you can always go back and order more albums and prints once the wedding is over.

DON'T: Miss out on hiring a videographer. Yes your photos are timeless, no one would disagree, but when you're old and grey it will be nice to watch a video of what your voice sounded like when you spoke your vows or how hilarious the dance moves where out on the dance floor. Only video can capture this for you.

I hope these tips are helpful, and when in doubt...just ask the professionals, It's kind of what they do for a living. ðŸ˜‰

Flash Back Friday- "Real Wedding" - Brittany & Jeremy

Oldie but goodie...Brittany and Jeremy are about to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. We wanted to be the first to congratulate them!

Two words come to mind when describing these beautiful images, sweet and timeless. Michelle March was able to capture the essence of this gorgeous day as well as the timeless elegance of The Biltmore. Style me Pretty couldn't agree more and described the day as perfect http://www.stylemepretty.com/florida-weddings/coral-gables/2013/12/03/biltmore-hotel-wedding-by-michelle-march/

We know Brittany and Jeremy will able to look back at this day and all those who helped make it a reality with fondness for many years to come.

If sweet, timeless and elegant are all words you hope will be used to describe your wedding, make sure you take a look at all of the talented vendors at the bottom of the page.

Of course, if your sweet tooth is not satisfied, and you can't wait to see more...http://michellemarch.com/blog/tied-the-knot-brittany-jeremy-at-the-biltmore-hotel-in-coral-gables-fl/

Jacqueline's Quince

Yes, we know it's Wedding Wednesday but the Biltmore plays host to many different events throughout the year in addition to all of our fabulous weddings. Today we thought we would showcase one of those events.

For those of you unfamiliar with the term "Quince" it is the spanish translation of fifteen. In latin cultures young ladies celebrate a Quince as opposed to a sweet sixteen. In the past few years we have seen the Quince trend return in full force. These events are extravagant, elaborate themed events from arabian nights to fairy tales and an in Jacqueline's case a medieval feast fit for a princess.

We know Francesca Gonzalez (eventsbyfrancesca.com) had a great time designing all of the custom elements that made this event unique. For more information on all of the vendors that assisted in creating this royal gala, please see below.

Wedding Wednesday- "Real Wedding"- Nicole & Jason

Over the past 14 years I have assisted over 600 couples in fulfilling their wedding dreams. Time and time again I am asked, "if you had one all encumbering, piece of advice for wedding planning what would it be?"

The answer is simple, make it all about you, the two of you in every aspect possible. When the main current that runs through a wedding is the love a couple shares and the dynamics of their personalities, then the wedding guests and most importantly the couple themselves can not help but feel swept away.

Nicole and Jason personified the statement noted above. No copy and paste insert any bride and groom here. Nicole knew that modern but rustic elegance was what she was envisioning for her day. Together with her Dynamic planner Marylen Exposito and the Ãœber creative Blooms, Inc. Nicole had those visions fulfilled and then some.

When it came to the grooms cake, the couple wanted to incorporate their common love for the show " The Walking Dead ". If there is anyone in Miami that you can feel comfortable in saying " just do whatever you want with the cake, we trust you." It's Rosie from Elegant Temptations. That cake took grooms cakes to a whole new level.

Rustic, Elegant, Modern, funny & even a little scary. Take a look for yourselves and to see more visit: http://davidzaveloff.com/biltmore-hotel-miami-wedding/

Biltmore Best Photo Locations

We were recently asked by Brides Magazine to provide their readers with our best photo locations within our one of a kind property. We were more than happy to oblige.

Indeed The Biltmore is a photographers paradise, with too many locations for one blog post, but if you are a Biltmore Bride here are some of the top spots to make sure your photos are as timeless as our venue.

1. Biltmore Lobby- East side, West Side, Center- There is no such thing as a bad spot. Just coordinate the time with your catering manager to make sure you're not standing in the middle of someone else's event.

2. The Alhambra & Granada Loggias- Contrasting the green wall color against a white wedding dress is spectacular!

3. The Banyan Tree- With it's beautiful roots anchored to the ground and it's leaves reaching for the clouds, it's no mystery why this symbolic spot is one of our favorites.

4. Anywhere on the golf course- There are dozens of potential shots within our 6,800 yard championship golf course. Speak to your catering manager about securing a golf cart for you so that you can move around quickly and make the most of your time.

5. The Country Club- The Country Club Fountain is an ideal location for bridal party photos and no Biltmore wedding album is complete with out a photo on the famous Country Club Ballroom stairs.

Let me guess...you're visual and need to see for yourself? Then take a look at this video from our friends at Focused on Forever that showcases some of the photo op locations noted above & then some. Wedding Wednesday- "Real Wedding" Tiffanie & Pierre

Welcome back to Wedding Wednesday!

Today we bring you the very special southern inspired celebration of Tiffanie & Pierre. Family and food were the focus of this beautiful fete. Tiffanie knew the Biltmore was where she wanted her special day to take place, as not one but two of her sisters had already enjoyed a beautiful Biltmore wedding.

The second most important component to the day was the incorporation of all things southern.
The decor included beautiful florals of peach and green with burlap table runners. The menu was something were sure few of her guests have been able to enjoy at a luxury hotel, Jalapeno Corn bread, Bourbon Braised Short Rib and Truffle Mac and Cheese. There is no doubt their guests' stomachs were as full as their hearts.

Tiffanie & Pierre, we hope you continue the tradition of Biltmore Weddings within your family for years to come!

Wedding Wednesday- "Real Wedding"- Lindsey & Ryan

On this Wedding Wednesday we bring you the incredibly unique and detailed wedding of Lindsay and Ryan.

Lindsay and Ryan's guests were able to enjoy their very own Kentucky Derby Celebration!

Cocktail hour consisted of a Kentucky Derby viewing party where guests were able to bet on their favorite horse while sipping a cool mint julep from a custom bar adorned with floral horseshoes. Beautiful barrels, crates and props were provided by unearthed vintage www.unearthedvintage.com

The fun festivities continued throughout the night as guests partied the evening away decked out in their derby hats.

Lindsay and Ryan thank you for choosing the Biltmore to host this one of a kind event. All bets are on you for a life filled with love & joy!

Wedding Wednesday- "Real Wedding" - Leslie & David

Welcome back to Wedding Wednesday!

This week we bring you the incredible wedding of Leslie & David....

When envisioning her wedding day, "conventional" is not what Leslie had in mind. She knew what she wanted from day one and along with our talented vendors we were up for the challenge. We transformed our Country Club Ballroom into an intricate ceremony space only to transform it an hour later into an elegant dinning room. Once the guests finished their exquisite four course meal, our Danielson Gallery set the stage for the perfect after party that had nothing to rival a South Beach Club.

Working with this dynamic couple was a blast. It's hard to believe it's already been a year. Leslie and David, Happy Anniversary and we hope you always remain newlyweds.

Wedding Wednesday- "Real Wedding" Jessica & Michael

On this Wedding Wednesday we take it way back to celebrate one of our favorite couples (and mother of the bride).

From the first day that Jessica and Michael (Professional Major League Baseball Player) came to view our property for the first time, we knew the event would be beyond spectacular. Not to mention the fact that it was obvious they were head over heels in love and could not wait to start their lives together. The months that followed included working with some of the finest vendors in Miami where no detail was overlooked. The outcome was an over the top event that included floral chandeliers suspended from the ceiling, custom trees for place cards, a five star menu and amazing musicians and dancers that will no doubt leave their guests in awe for years.

From the wedding team at The Biltmore we wish Jessica and Michael many years of continued bliss....
